1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 medium finely chopped onion
1 stick finely chopped celery
2 clove garlic, crushed
2 medium carrots, peeled and grated
450 g lean minced beef
300 ml Passata & 2 dessert spoons tomato Puree
200 ml unsalted stock or boiling water
¼ tsp fresh thyme leaves or a pinch of dried thyme
a pinch of sugar
This bolognese is suitable for the whole family.
Stage 1: about 6 months – Puree to a thin consistency using a blender.
Stage 2: 6-9 months – Ensure meat is finely broken up using a wooden/metal spatula to serve small baby shell pasta.
Stage 3: 9-12 months – Serve meat with lumps. Suitable pasta – penne, bow, spaghetti, fusilli. Encourage self feed.
